Included on the National Register of Historic Places, the River Park Inn was constructed in the 1880s by Dr. Joseph Applegate as a cottage for the more retiring guests of the Clarendon Hotel who came to partake of the healing mineral waters, which are still flowing from the ground at 3,000 gallons per minute. AKA "Pirates Cove" and the "Saratoga of the South". Formerly home of the "Mothball Fleet" and Lee Field Naval Air Training Station.
Directions: From I-295 take Exit # 10, go south 15 miles on Hwy. 17, turn left on Spring St. beside City Hall. At the next corner, Spring St. and Magnolia Ave. Park in Driveway. Or from I-95 take Exit # 318, go west on S.R. 16 to Hwy 17. At the Hess Station turn R. At the next traffic light turn R. on Ferris St. at Walgreens. Turn L at the next corner on Magnolia Ave. It is the second house on your L. From Starke take SR16 East for 40 miles. Go straight across Hwy 17 at Walgreens, turn L. on Magnolia Ave.
